Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical / Stepdown Float Pool
Job Summary: We are seeking an adaptable and experienced Medical-Surgical / Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our inpatient acute care nursing team. In this role, you will coordinate total nursing care for adult and geriatric patients across various Med-Surg and Stepdown units. You will manage patient assessments, administer cardiac drips, participate in patient and family education, and float flexibly between acute care units to support daily hospital staffing needs. Position Details:
  • Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric.
  • EHR System: Epic.
  • Dress Code: Professional scrubs of any solid color or pattern (no logos).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acute & Stepdown Nursing Care: Perform total nursing care for adult/geriatric patients, conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, administer medications (including cardiac drips), and monitor diagnostic lab/imaging results.
  • Unit Versatility & Floating: Demonstrate flexibility to float between acute Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care/Stepdown units as operational needs dictate (including mid-shift unit rotations).
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work cooperatively with attending physicians, hospitalists, ancillary nursing staff, and allied health professionals to maintain high clinical standards and continuity of care.
  • Patient & Family Education: Provide compassionate patient advocacy, discharge planning support, and clear clinical instruction to patients and their families.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) [Required].
  • Clinical Experience:
    • Minimum 2+ years of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience in an acute care setting [Required].
    • Stepdown/Progressive Care experience, including active experience managing cardiac drips and intermediate monitoring protocols [Required].
    • ICU background [Strongly Welcomed].
  • EHR Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Epic Electronic Health Record software [Required].
  • Certifications:
    • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
    • Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact RN License [Required].
  • Core Competencies: Intermediate cardiac rhythm and drip management, high clinical adaptability across inpatient units, strong organizational skills, and excellent team communication.
