Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – Inpatient Rehab & Acute Care

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated, patient-focused Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our multidisciplinary therapy team. In this role, you will deliver direct occupational therapy interventions across both the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and Acute Care settings under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR).
Working with an average inpatient rehab census of 12 patients, you will execute individualized treatment plans, assist patients in regaining activities of daily living (ADL) independence, and collaborate on interdisciplinary co-treatments with Physical Therapy (PT/PTA) teams in acute care environments.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care & Rehabilitation

  • Therapeutic Interventions: Execute occupational therapy plans of care to improve functional mobility, motor skills, cognitive function, and daily living skills (ADLs/IADLs).
  • Inpatient Rehab & Acute Coverage: Provide dedicated treatment to an average caseload of 12 patients on the Inpatient Rehab Unit while providing versatile coverage for acute medical floors.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in strategic co-treatments alongside Physical Therapists (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) in acute care to optimize patient safety and recovery outcomes.

Documentation & Progress Tracking

  • Clinical Documentation: Accurately document daily treatment notes, patient progress, functional improvements, and adaptive device training in the electronic health record.
  • Care Plan Adjustments: Consult regularly with supervising Occupational Therapists to report patient responses to treatment and suggest plan modifications.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Education, Licensure & Credentials

  • NBCOT Certification: Active national certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant through the NBCOT [Required].
  • State Licensure: Active, unrestricted state COTA license [Required].
  • Life Support: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].

Experience & Attributes

  • Clinical Experience: Open to New Graduates as well as experienced COTAs [New Grads Welcome].
  • Traveler Experience: Recent travel or contract healthcare experience [Preferred].
  • Teamwork: Strong interpersonal communication skills with a collaborative approach to interdisciplinary rehab care.
