Position Overview
The Patient Financial Navigation Advisor serves as the primary financial resource for patients throughout their healthcare journey. Responsibilities include verifying insurance benefits, reviewing prior authorizations, providing accurate cost estimates, educating patients on their financial responsibilities, and assisting with payment arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Review prior authorization status
- Provide accurate patient cost estimates
- Explain insurance coverage and out-of-pocket expenses
- Assist patients with payment options and financial arrangements
- Communicate with patients via phone, written correspondence, and MyChart
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, and administrative staff
- Maintain accurate documentation within Epic EMR
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of healthcare revenue cycle or patient financial services experience
- Experience with insurance verification and patient financial counseling
- Experience using payer portals such as NaviNet, Passport, or similar systems
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and health insurance plans
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience (Preferred)
Technical Skills
- Epic EMR experience is required
