Job Title: Director of Health Information Management (HIM)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Health Information Management (HIM) to provide comprehensive leadership, direction, and administration for our health information management system. This 100% on-site leadership role oversees all vital HIM functions, including record processing and completion, acute and ambulatory coding accuracy, transcription, trauma registry, storage/retrieval, release of information (ROI), and the physician suspension process.

Compensation & Incentives:
- Salary Range: $90,000 – $135,000 / Year (or $42.00 – $65.00 / Hour), commensurate with education and experience.
- Relocation Assistance: Up to $5,000 relocation allowance available (to be discussed further during the interview phase).

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following strict criteria:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Science, a closely related field, OR a documented active plan to complete a Bachelor's degree [Required].
Experience & Skills:
- Management: Minimum 5 years of dedicated management and supervisory experience [Required].
- Coding: Minimum 5 years of medical coding experience [Required].
- Compliance: Strong familiarity with HIPAA regulations and standards [Preferred].
Certifications & Licensure:
- RHIT: Registered Health Information Technician certification [Required].
- RHIA: Registered Health Information Administrator certification [Highly Preferred].
- State Scope: Must be aligned with state compliance regulations for Kansas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct daily activities of the Health Information Management department to ensure maximum data integrity, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Manage record processing, completion, indexing, abstracting, filing, and retrieval systems across acute and ambulatory care.
- Establish, review, and ensure system-wide compliance with internal clinical policies, federal HIPAA mandates, and state healthcare regulations.
- Lead and manage the physician suspension process and collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely documentation completion.
- Represent the department in all health center executive activities and maintain proactive communication with executive leadership.
