Role Overview:
Seeking an experienced, highly skilled Pharmacy Technician III for a temporary contract assignment in Pittsfield, MA. Operating within an outpatient and health system clinic pharmacy setting, the Pharmacy Technician III assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, dispensing, and managing pharmaceuticals. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, independence, pharmaceutical mathematical proficiency, and daily operation of automated dispensing technologies and IV compounding equipment.
Schedule & Terms:
- Shift Schedule: Day Shift | Monday – Friday (Varied start times: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM). Must be flexible to work any assigned day shift (40 hours/week guaranteed). Schedule accommodations (e.g., 10s or 12s) will not be considered.
- Orientation: 8 hours non-billable orientation.
- Weekend Requirements: None (except holiday coverage if scheduled).
- On-Call / Charge: No call or charge responsibilities required.
- Holiday Requirement: Must work two (2) major holiday blocks if scheduled (Thanksgiving block, Christmas block, or New Year's block).
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope:
- Compounding & Dispensing: Prepare, mix, and compound hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals and sterile preparations adhering to department SOPs and hospital guidelines.
- Automation & Technology Operation: Utilize automated medication dispensing systems, pharmacy management software, Alaris Smart Pumps, DoseEdge, Simplify797, and laminar air flow hoods (horizontal and vertical).
- Pharmaceutical Calculations: Perform accurate mathematical calculations involving fractions, ratios, decimals, and dosage conversions.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with pharmacists, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless medication delivery and patient care.
- Logistics & Deliveries: Occasionally drive a personal vehicle to designated local satellite destinations for pharmaceutical deliveries as required.
Qualifications & Submission Requirements:
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active Massachusetts Registered Pharmacy Technician License in-hand at submission [REQUIRED].
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) credential through the PTCB [REQUIRED].
- Active BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross [REQUIRED].
Clinical Experience & Competencies:
- Minimum 3+ years of dedicated Pharmacy Technician experience [REQUIRED].
- Direct Retail Pharmacy experience [REQUIRED].
- Minimum 6 months of current or recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience [REQUIRED].
- Demonstrated proficiency in hazardous and non-hazardous compounding [REQUIRED].
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for delivery tasks [REQUIRED].
