Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Registered Nurse for a 13-week night-shift assignment in Lawton, OK. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for formulating patient care plans, leading medication education, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment. This role involves mentoring support staff and participating in unit-wide performance improvement initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Contribute to the formulation and weekly clinical review of patient treatment plans.
- Patient Education: Conduct medication education for patients and families; facilitate scheduled teaching and educational groups on the unit.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document patient emotional and mental status; ensure precise reporting to the medical and clinical staff.
- Staff Mentorship: Train and guide LPNs and Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) in vital signs, patient routines, and de-escalation techniques.
- Quality & Safety: Maintain active participation in Performance Improvement (PI) teams and maintain current Therapeutic Options certification.
- Professional Conduct: Serve as a positive role model through professional language, dress, and behavior.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of specialized Behavioral Health/Psychiatric experience [Required].
- Travel Experience: Recent experience in a travel nursing role is [Preferred].
- Skills: Proficiency in De-Escalation training (e.g., CPI, Therapeutic Options) is highly [Preferred].
- Licensure: Active Oklahoma RN State License or Compact/Multistate License.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Certification are required (facility will review applicants with pending/recently expired copies).
Schedule & Contract Details
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights | 13-Week Contract.
- Hours: 36 Hours guaranteed per week.
- Weekends: As needed.
- On-Call: No call requirements.
