Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Substance Abuse / Detox Unit
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in substance abuse and addiction recovery to join an acute 20-bed inpatient chemical dependency unit. In this role, you will deliver specialized nursing care, perform clinical withdrawal assessments, manage detox protocols, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary mental health team to support patients through acute chemical dependency stabilization.
Shift & Schedule:
- Shift: Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, 8-Hour Shifts)
- Schedule Note: Full-time rotation including weekend coverage and holiday rotation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detox & Withdrawal Management: Administer pharmacological interventions, monitor vital signs, and utilize standardized clinical assessment tools (such as CIWA/COWS) to manage acute substance withdrawal.
- Patient Care & Safety: Conduct ongoing physical and behavioral health assessments, monitor patient safety, and respond rapidly to clinical deteriorations or medical emergencies.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with psychiatrists, clinical nurse specialists, social workers, and addiction counselors to manage comprehensive care plans.
- Patient & Family Support: Deliver psychoeducation regarding addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and medical compliance in a non-judgmental, therapeutic environment.
- EHR Documentation: Maintain precise clinical documentation using electronic medical records systems (Meditech Expanse).
