Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
Job Summary: We are seeking an adaptable and experienced Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our inpatient acute care nursing team. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive direct nursing care to Medical-Surgical patients, conduct continuous telemetry and cardiac rhythm monitoring, perform neurological assessments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams across acute Med-Surg care units.
Position & Unit Details:
- Unit Capacity: 20 to 34 beds (depending on assigned unit).
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
- Shift Commitment: Full-time schedule (48 hours/week schedule).
- Dress Code: Personal scrubs of any solid color or pattern.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Med-Surg Care: Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications and treatments, monitor diagnostic laboratory/imaging results, and manage patient care plans.
- Telemetry & Dysrhythmia Monitoring: Identify, interpret, and act upon cardiac telemetry rhythms and dysrhythmias; notify attending providers of acute rhythm changes or clinical deterioration.
- Stroke & Neurological Assessment: Execute NIHSS neurological evaluations and stroke care protocols as indicated by clinical presentation.
- Unit Flexibility: Float across all Medical-Surgical and telemetry unit floors to support daily patient census and hospital unit needs.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with attending physicians, hospitalists, therapists, and ancillary care teams to manage care continuity and discharge planning.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Clinical Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of recent Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) RN experience in an acute care hospital setting [Required].
- Active hands-on Telemetry monitoring experience [Required].
- Completed Basic Dysrhythmia course or demonstrated competency [Strongly Required].
- EHR Proficiency: Familiarity with Meditech Expanse or similar Electronic Health Record systems [Highly Preferred].
Certifications:
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
- Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
- Active National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification [Required].
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
- Core Competencies: Solid dysrhythmia interpretation, proficient stroke assessment, clinical adaptability across Med-Surg units, strong communication skills, and high reliability.
