Job Title: Observation Registered Nurse (Observation Unit RN)

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and attentive Observation Registered Nurse (RN) to assess, implement, and monitor comprehensive care for outpatient populations assigned to observation status. In this role, you will deliver direct patient care, evaluate treatment effectiveness, administer medications, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes and smooth care transitions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment & Care (30%): Regularly assess patient needs and deliver skilled nursing care following physician orders, evidence-based practices, and accepted clinical standards.
  • Direct Nursing Interventions (30%): Administer medications, perform treatments, assist with patient mobility/transfers, respond to bed/call alarms, and address immediate patient needs.
  • Treatment Plan Evaluation (20%): Continuously evaluate patient responses to treatment, updating and revising care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to improve patient outcomes.
  • Orders & Documentation (10%): Process, execute, and document physician/provider orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Medication & Care Coordination (10%): Conduct prompt follow-ups regarding medication modifications and order clarifications with attending providers.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of dedicated Observation Unit nursing experience [Required].
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
  • Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
  • EMR Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) [Preferred].
  • Core Attributes: Strong clinical assessment skills, precise order processing, proactive communication, and effective multi-tasking in fast-paced observation settings.
