Job Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Inpatient Psych / Phlebotomy)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team in a specialized 10-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health nursing care, crisis stabilization, and direct patient assessment for adults (18+) experiencing acute psychiatric conditions. Candidates must possess proficient phlebotomy skills to conduct routine blood draws on the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric Nursing Care: Deliver direct psychiatric nursing care, patient monitoring, medication administration, and continuous behavioral health assessment in a 10-bed inpatient unit.
- Venipuncture & Lab Collection: Perform routine phlebotomy and blood specimen collection for adult patients on the unit as ordered by attending providers.
- Crisis Stabilization & Assessment: Perform ongoing mental status examinations, monitor for behavioral changes, and maintain therapeutic, safe environment standards.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with outpatient providers, emergency department teams, and crisis specialists to support admissions, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
- Documentation: Maintain complete chart documentation including nursing progress notes, lab orders, and interdisciplinary care plans.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of current clinical Psychiatric RN experience [Required].
- Clinical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with active phlebotomy and blood draw procedures [Required]. (Small critical access facility and previous travel assignment experience preferred).
Certifications:
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications [Strongly Preferred].
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
- Core Competencies: Excellent crisis intervention skills, strong therapeutic communication, ability to handle lab collection independently, and dedication to maintaining a safe patient care environment.
