Job Title: School Health & Student Wellness Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an energetic, compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our student health and wellness team. In this role, you will provide primary nursing care, acute illness and injury triage, preventative health education, and ongoing wellness counseling to support students' physical and mental well-being in an academic and vocational setting.
Serving as a primary clinical contact for students, you will conduct daily morning triage hours, administer medications, coordinate physician and dental referrals, and deliver health education that empowers students to succeed in their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Clinical Care & Triage:
- Outpatient Triage & Sick Call: Conduct regularly scheduled daily morning triage hours to evaluate, assess, and treat minor student illnesses, acute symptoms, and sports/occupational injuries.
- Assessment & Treatment: Deliver immediate clinical evaluations and execute treatment plans in accordance with authorized physician Standing Orders.
- Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications, OTC remedies, and clinical treatments following state nursing protocols and record-keeping guidelines.
Care Coordination & Communication:
- Specialist Referrals: Coordinate clinical referrals to primary care physicians, dentists, community clinics, and specialized mental health professionals based on student physical and emotional needs.
- Patient Follow-Up: Manage clinical follow-up care and communicate test results, treatment updates, and health status to parents/guardians, attending physicians, and external specialists as appropriate.
Health Counseling, Education & Mentorship:
- Preventative Health Training: Counsel and educate students on essential life topics, including personal hygiene, reproductive health, disease prevention (STDs/HIV), and wellness maintenance.
- Academic & Life Mentorship: Support and motivate students facing health-related challenges to help them maintain focus, attendance, and success in their academic and vocational programs.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:
Licensure & Credentials:
- RN Licensure: Active, unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice [Required].
- Life Support: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross [Required].
- Driving Record: Active, valid Driver's License with a clean driving record [Required].
Core Competencies:
- Strong clinical background in outpatient triage, urgent care, primary care, or pediatric/adolescent nursing.
- Excellent interpersonal, patient counseling, and health coaching skills for adolescent and young adult populations.
- Collaborative mindset with strong documentation accuracy and multi-disciplinary communication abilities.
