Job Title: Inpatient Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN).
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Inpatient Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver holistic psychiatric nursing care to individuals in an acute inpatient unit. In this role, you will apply the nursing process to assess, plan, and manage care for behavioral health patients, establish therapeutic environments, manage crisis situations, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary treatment teams to foster recovery and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychiatric Assessment & Care: Perform clinical assessments (physical, psychosocial, risk, and barrier assessments) and establish individualized care plans tailored to age and cultural needs.
  • Therapeutic Milieu & Interventions: Maintain a safe, therapeutic unit environment; observe and participate in patient group activities; and execute fall risk and de-escalation protocols.
  • Clinical Operations & Administration: Administer medications, manage invasive lines/drains, monitor patient vitals, perform wound care, and utilize specialized medical equipment and medication cabinets.
  • Crisis Management: Respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies, patient crises, and behavioral disruptions using approved crisis intervention standards.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Teaching: Participate in treatment team meetings, coordinate care with physicians and therapists, delegate tasks to assistive personnel, and educate patients and families on disease management and wellness.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear, complete, and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Specialty Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of dedicated inpatient psychiatric RN experience [Required].
  • Hospital Experience: Recent hospital-based acute care experience within the last 5 years [Required].
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
  • Certifications:
    • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required].
    • Active Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification [Required].
  • Core Competencies: Strong critical thinking, de-escalation skills, adaptable prioritization, and proficiency in electronic health documentation systems.
