Job Title: Cardiac Catheterization & Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (Cath Lab / Interventional RN)
Job Summary: We are seeking a versatile Cardiac Catheterization & Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing angiography, interventional cardiology, vascular access, and diagnostic testing. In this role, you will perform pre-procedure assessments, administer conscious sedation, scrub in alongside physicians, monitor hemodynamics, manage post-procedure recovery, and act as a clinical expert in vascular access and specialized cardiac testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procedure Support & Scrubbing (50%): Scrub in for cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology procedures; assist with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), stress testing, cardioversions, and nuclear exams; perform PICC line insertions under ultrasound guidance.
- Direct Patient Care & Sedation (35%): Conduct pre-procedure safety screenings, administer pre-medications, provide moderate sedation monitoring according to policy, manage post-cath recovery protocols, and deliver tailored patient/family education.
- Equipment & Hemodynamic Management (15%): Operate cardiac output devices, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella devices, defibrillators, and point-of-care lab equipment; serve as part of the transport team for high-acuity patients requiring advanced cardiac support.
- Clinical Documentation & Coordination: Record procedural data accurately, track patient metrics, report critical clinical changes to physicians, and assist with inventory management and emergency equipment maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Nursing Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of dedicated Registered Nurse experience [Required].
- Clinical Experience: Oncology nursing experience [Required].
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
Certifications:
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
- Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the AHA [Required].
- Specialized Capabilities: Proficiency in PICC line placement, conscious sedation monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Work History: Recent travel nursing experience [Highly Preferred].
