Role Overview:
Seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Histology Technician (HT) / Histotechnologist (HTL) for a temporary contract assignment in Flint, MI. The Histotechnician will prepare human tissue specimens for microscopic examination and pathologist analysis—performing tissue fixation, processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, precision mounting, and diagnostic staining while managing laboratory quality-control standards and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope:
- Specimen Processing & Slide Preparation: Examine, fix, and process tissue samples for optimal preservation; embed tissue blocks in paraffin wax; slice sections using microtomes or cryostats; and mount sections onto slides.
- Diagnostic Staining: Perform routine and special chemical stains or dyes on tissue samples to highlight cellular structures and pathological abnormalities for pathologist review.
- Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Identify procedural or technical factors impacting stain/section quality, taking swift corrective action to maintain accreditation standards.
- Equipment Maintenance & Inventory: Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory instrumentation (microtomes, processors, stainers); monitor quality-control logs and manage histology supplies.

Schedule & Work Environment:
- Shift Schedule: Full-Time Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (8.5-hour day / 8 paid hours per day).
- Weekend Requirements: No weekends required under standard staffing levels (weekends needed only if fewer than 4 histotechnicians are available during the week).
- On-Call Requirements: None.
