Job Title: Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel / Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) to join our maternal-child health team. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive, holistic, and evidence-based nursing care to both newborn and adult patient populations during the immediate postpartum period. You will manage the execution of the full nursing process—including assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, and clinical evaluation—while serving as a vital support system for new families.
Position & Shift Details
- Job Type: Full-Time, Travel / Contract
- Clinical Setting: Postpartum / Mother-Baby Unit (On-Site)
- Logistics: Fully billable hours from orientation. Note: All requested time off (RTO) must be finalized and locked in at the time of initial application to ensure facility approval.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Clinical Background
- Specialty Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of dedicated, post-licensure Postpartum / Mother-Baby clinical experience [Required].
- Clinical Skillset: Proven, hands-on competence in assisting families with breastfeeding techniques and lactation support [Required].
- Target Demographics: Comfort and documented proficiency working simultaneously with both newborn and adult populations [Required].
- EMR Systems: Prior working experience utilizing Epic electronic medical records software [Required].
Licensure & Certifications
- State Licensure: Active, valid Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
- Licensure Flexibility: Active and valid Minnesota Temporary RN Licenses are fully accepted but must be in hand at the time of application.
- Life Support: Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) [Required].
Key Responsibilities
- Maternal-Child Care Execution: Assess, monitor, and provide highly customized, holistic clinical care to mothers and newborns throughout the early recovery lifecycle, modifying individualized plans of care as clinical needs evolve.
- Lactation & Postnatal Education: Educate and guide parents on newborn care, safety protocols, postpartum physical recovery, and hands-on breastfeeding positioning and techniques.
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Act as the primary coordinator of care across clinical disciplines, managing patient goals and safely delegating task assignments to supporting patient care staff when appropriate.
- System Documentation: Maintain precise, real-time charting of clinical milestones, medication administrations, and nursing diagnoses within the Epic EMR system.
- Clinical Leadership: Maintain shared accountability for nursing practices on the unit, adhering strictly to professional ethics, safety policies, and the organization's standards of care.
