Job Title: Cardiovascular Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel/Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-performing Cardiovascular Unit (CVU). In this role, you will utilize advanced clinical judgment to diagnose and treat patient responses to complex, actual, or potential cardiac conditions. The CVU manages a high volume of cardiology patients undergoing advanced procedures (including PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers), post-operative open-heart surgery patients (18–24 hours post-op), and patients requiring congestive heart failure management or electrophysiology studies.
Position Details
- Job Type: Full-Time, Travel Contract
- Clinical Setting: Award-winning, modern Cardiovascular / Stepdown Unit actively participating in national clinical trials.
- Floating: Must be willing to float to similar clinical units as required by the facility.
Attendance & Performance Policy
- Important Policy Note: The facility maintains a strict 3-strike attendance and punctuality policy to advocate for optimal patient care. Any contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late 3 times will face immediate contract termination (verifiable medical emergencies or hospitalizations are reviewed independently).
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Clinical Background
- Specialty Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of dedicated Stepdown experience [Required].
- Clinical Proficiency: Proven proficiency and comfort in Cardiac Care and EKG interpretation [Required].
- Employment Status: Candidates must be contract/travel clinicians [Required].
Licensure & Certifications
- State Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license for the State of Michigan [Required].
- Life Support Certifications: Active BLS and ACLS certifications [Required].

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, evidence-based nursing care to acute cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from open-heart surgeries, pacemaker insertions, and structural heart interventions.
- Monitor, interpret, and rapidly respond to patient EKG rhythms and telemetry data, modifying care plans in alignment with changing patient responses.
- Collaborate closely with an integrated healthcare team—including leadership, medical staff, and researchers—to maintain peak care efficiency and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Maintain absolute professional compliance regarding shift attendance, punctuality, documentation standards, and facility-specific safety protocols.
