Job Title: Operating Room (OR) Circulating Nurse – Travel Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled, adaptable Operating Room (OR) Circulating Registered Nurse for an immediate full-time contract assignment. In this role, you will deliver high-quality surgical nursing care by utilizing the nursing process to advocate for patient safety and comfort during operative procedures. You will work dynamically alongside surgical technicians, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to maintain the highest standards of professional perioperative nursing practice.

Position & Contract Details

  • Job Type: Full-Time, Contract

  • Clinical Setting: Acute Care Surgical Services / Main OR (On-Site)

  • Logistics: Shift schedules to be determined upon interview. Non-local travel candidates are welcome, with tailored compensation structures available.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Experience & Clinical Competencies

  • Surgical Core Experience: Documented proficiency in OR Circulating roles [Required].

  • Specialty Case Strengths: Direct experience circulating Orthopedic, OB-GYN, and General Surgery cases [Required].

  • Additional Specialties: Prior clinical exposure navigating Urology and Ophthalmic (Eye) surgical procedures is [Preferred].

  • Travel Experience: Prior experience navigating contract or travel nursing assignments is [Preferred].

Licensure & Certifications

  • State Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan [Required]. Credentials must be fully active and verified at the time of application submission.

  • Life Support: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required].

Key Responsibilities

  • Perioperative Patient Advocacy: Manage the complete nursing care process within the operating room suite, ensuring a safe, sterile environment and sterile-field integrity throughout surgical cases.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Function as a core communication hub in the OR, partnering fluidly with the surgical team to anticipate instrumentation, suture, and equipment needs.

  • Patient Intake & Positioning: Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, verify patient identity/consents, and oversee proper patient positioning and skin preparation per institutional safety standards.

  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain meticulous, real-time electronic charting detailing counts (sponges, sharps, and instruments), surgical timelines, medication administration, and specimen handling.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to established medical center policies, safety guidelines, and professional nursing benchmarks outlined by regulatory bodies.
